We consider ourselves very fortunate to have the services of someone like Leigh of Happy Hooves & Paws. Our “boys” Gilligan and Skipper just adore her and look forward to her daily visits. Leigh is professional and extremely reliable, which makes going to work much easier knowing someone will give them their treats, refresh their water bowl and take them out for a long stroll. What makes Leigh a standout is her patience and knowledge of dog training. Our very spry and energetic Golden Retriever has become a much better walker since Leigh has been providing her dog walking services. We love the fact that she updates us on new commands she has taught him and they have really helped! After having the services of dog walkers/pet sitters for over 14 years, Leigh of is one of the best. When our last pet sitter moved from the area we were thrilled to find Leigh. Leigh has been walking our Labradoodle since November 2007 and has changed our lives. Not only am I able to go to work guilt free on the days that Leigh comes, but Mimi is also a happier dog. She adores Leigh and has become much more socialized. Mimi is super submissive and has always shied away from playing with other dogs but now when she is with me at the beach, she actually seeks out other dogs. She has become so much more comfortable with other dogs and I really believe it is due to the fact that Leigh makes her feel safe when she is around other dogs so she engages more with them. Leigh is friendly, kind, reliable and most importantly, loves animals. Mimi is a very loved and important part of our household and I trust Leigh with her completely. I especially appreciate how concerned you have been to get in touch with me immediately with any problems: for example, when I misplaced Dublin's leash and you needed it to take him out for his walk. You are extremely active and involved in Dublin's play time. I love how you take him on long hikes and take the extra time to play fetch with him. You even had the patience to teach him a new trick! Our cockapoo, Saskia, has stayed with Leigh for several weekends and most recently for three weeks while we were in Europe. It is such a relief to have somewhere to leave Saskia without feeling the least bit worried or guilty; I think Saskia considers her stays with Leigh as her own vacations. Saskia is always thrilled to see Leigh, and she comes back home just as happy and in excellent shape. As a dog owner, I see Leigh as an ultra-reliable and responsible person, who communicates with humans as well as with animals. Leigh started ranch sitting for us in May 2007. When we leave town we know all our pets are well taken care of. She cares for our new baby chicks all the way up to my 2 big horses. I had never met a house sitter as organized as Leigh who interviewed me and documented information pertinent to each one of our 15 pets. She is knowledgeable about each pet and even has new information from her prior experience in pet care. She seems to be up to date on the best types of food and health care for all types of animals. When our yellow lab, Sabine, was retired from the Guide Dogs for the Blind breeding program last spring, we faced the unthinkable: leaving Sabine at some place other than the familiar Guide Dogs kennel for a 2 and 1/2-week vacation. We feel very fortunate to have met Leigh and to have used her as a dog-sitter and house-sitter. Leigh was extremely professional during our first meeting and just before our trip, taking notes and asking a lot of questions. She clearly loves animals and Sabine clearly had a wonderful time with her while we were away. Leigh went above and beyond the call of duty, sending us something we forgot, taking care of packages we sent home, and sorting all the mail to make it easier to manage on our return. The house was spotless and the plants were all alive. Most importantly, Sabine had a lot of fun as evidenced by the pictures Leigh took of her with her new friends, her shiny coat, and her happy demeanor. Since then, we have used Leigh to walk Sabine when we were going to be away most of the day. Again, Leigh did more than was asked, driving Sabine to a cool path for a walk, throwing a ball for her, and letting her swim. After realizing that our beloved good-natured standard poodle, Theo, was a kennel flunky, we scrambled to find an alternative dog sitting situation. Miraculously, Leigh was recommended by another happy customer. Within 2 minutes of meeting Leigh, we and Theo were convinced he would be in superb hands while we went on vacation. Her professionalism, organizational skills, great follow-up definitely impressed me. It didn't seem Theo missed us at all while we were gone.
